Ever find a tool that's completely free but works better than the expensive one you were about to buy? That's what we're collecting here.
This isn't about settling for "good enough" free alternatives. It's about discovering legitimately excellent tools that happen to be free – usually because they're open-source, have generous freemium tiers, or are passion projects by really talented developers who just want to help people.
Share tools you actually use for real work, not just things you tried once. "I've been using this free invoicing tool for 2 years to manage all my client billing" tells us something. "This looks interesting" doesn't really help anyone.
Same with templates. Only useful if they're actually customizable and well-documented. Got a Notion template that changed your workflow? Figma UI kit you use for every project? Code starter that saves you hours? Share it with notes about how to adapt it for different situations.
When sharing freemium tools, mention what the free tier covers. "Free tier gives you 10 projects" or "Exports have a watermark" helps people figure out if it'll work for them or if they need to budget for the paid version.
Also share stuff you've built. Made a useful spreadsheet template? Created a component library? Wrote a script that automates something annoying? Post it. Others benefit, and you'll get feedback that makes your next version even better.
